Watches with a leather or nato strap come with punched holes, so you can adjust the size yourself.

1. Download and print off our wrist size chart on A4 paper and check with a ruler it’s printed to scale, or have a ruler or piece of string to hand to measure your wrist size for a watch strap.

2. If measuring your wrist with our wrist size chart, cut around the sizer tool. Or skip this step if measuring your watch size with a ruler and piece of string.

3. If using our wrist size chart to measure your wrist, punch a hole through each marked X and cut along the dotted line between them to make a slit.

4. Next, if using our wrist size chart, place the size guide around your wrist like a bracelet, and pull the pointed end through the slot. If measuring your watch size with a piece of string, wrap the string around your wrist and mark where the ends meet.

5. When measuring your wrist size, make sure the watch size guide or piece of string has a snug fit with enough room to fit your index finger underneath.

6. The final step for using our wrist size chart, find your millimetre measurement by reading where the arrow is pointing to. If using a piece of string to measure your watch strap size, then place the end next to the bottom of the ruler, and see where the marked section on the string meets the millimetre reading on the ruler.

Why Is Your Watch Case Size Important?

The watch case is the part of the watch that houses the dial, battery, movement and other working parts. Watch cases come in a variety of sizes, shapes, metals, and levels of water resistance. So, it’s good to choose the watch case that looks and feels right for you, and has the right functions to suit how you use your watch every day.

When measuring your watch case size, factor in how the case’s thickness will feel on your wrist, and also how the watch’s lugs will add to the aesthetic and feel of the watch on your wrist. The lugs, or otherwise known as the watch’s horns, connect the case to the watch band, so will add further dimension to the timepiece.

“If you’re looking for an oversized look, watch case measurements 45mm and over will make a statement on the wrist. Medium or average watch dimensions are usually between 38mm and 42m, anything below 38mm is regarded as a small-face watch.”
